vessel: softie

softie is a strap-built, stoneware vessel with two layers of slip and glaze. the complex shape of softie meant she kept collapsing during the building process. however by filling the interior with newspaper and laying clay over this, she was eventually finished after five days of willpower and frustration. softie has been likened to a hot water bottle, or a large man on the beach, either is appropriate as softie was an exploration into texture and posture. the exterior is softened using a light pallette and dimpled surface.
